VGADVI Broadcaster Pro is an easy to use solution for capturing, streaming and broadcasting high quality video sources such as presentations with embedded video, diagnostic imagery, industrial training, and live events. The VGADVI Broadcaster Pro captures from the SD sources (S-video/composite) and HD sources (VGA/DVI/HDMI) and streams to one or more synchronized, time-stamped or picture-in-picture streams.
Capture
Capture digital (DVI-D, HDMI) video, analog (S-Video, composite) video and analog at their native resolutions and frame rates. Built-in signal converters and output connectors provide passthru for both video and audio input sources.
The broadcaster has two video signal inputs (DVI-I and S-Video) and one analog stereo audio input (3.5 mm). The DVI-I port supports capture of DVI, HDMI, Display Port, and VGA signals. The S-Video port supports capture of S-Video and composite video signals.
There is no need for external DVI/HDMI/VGA signal splitters. Simply place the broadcaster between your video sources (e.g. camera/computer) and your display or projector using the input and output DVI connectors. A built-in signal converter can even convert between various video signal formats to support different input and output signal types such as a computer with HDMI output and a projector with VGA input. Similarly for audio, a built in splitter enables recording of the audio input while passing audio directly through to the output port.
A preview function is included to enable live viewing and listening of the recording using a browser on any device connected to the broadcaster’s Ethernet port.
The broadcaster supports a wide range of video resolutions and refresh rates encompassing both the television/film and computer graphics industries including capture of full HD at 30 frames per second.
Layout
Easily control the scaling and position of video signals by selecting from pre-defined layout templates supporting separate channels and picture-in-picture formats for multiple source applications.
The broadcaster automatically detects the resolution and refresh rate of the input signals and automatically scales them to the resolutions and frame rates of your choosing.
When broadcasting two video signals simultaneously you may choose to keep them separate or combine them into a single video channel by simply selecting from our list of pre-defined layouts which include picture-in-picture or side-by-side options.
User text and timestamp may be affixed to each video frame before broadcasting. The broadcaster supports automatic periodic synchronization to a time server using NTP to ensure accurate time of day settings.
Publish to Web
The Epiphan Broadcaster Pro series of devices can easily be configured to work with virtually any CDN (content distribution network) service or media server.
CDNs, or Content Delivery Networks, are scalable services that allow the user to quickly and easily distribute content over the web to a wide variety of devices and in different formats. Epiphan Broadcasters provides multiple ways to share captured video with the world and has out-of-the-box support for CDN services such as StreamZilla and StreamGuys.
Streaming
In addition to recording your sources, they may be streamed over the Ethernet port to enable live viewing from a remote location. Select from a range of industry standard streaming protocols including Flash and RTP/RTSP including support for CDNs.
The choice of how to stream live video to remote viewers depends on many factors including the number of viewers (scale), their geographic location (reach), the specifics of their viewing devices and software, (e.g. PC, IPod) and the network infrastructure and services which connects them to your streaming source.
Epiphan Broadcasters support a number of different streaming formats and protocols to provide flexibility in reaching remote viewers over a range of communication networks. This includes Flash, RTP/RSTP, and ASF over standard IP networks selecting either UDP or TCP transport according to your specific application.
A small number of clients (e.g. 2 or 3) may be supported by establishing individual streams to each of them on demand. For applications involving many simultaneous users Epiphan Broadcasters support direct connection to content delivery networks (CDN) using RSTP Announce. These specialized networks provide the capability to support an even wider range of streaming formats and protocols, end user devices, and virtually unlimited reach and scalability. See our list of preferred CDNs here.
Broadcaster Pro models support many remote viewers simultaneously without using CDNs.
Encoding
Support for the most popular video and audio codecs ensures maximum compatibility with commercial viewing and post-production software. Ability to customize codec behaviour enables optimal performance across a wide range of video sources and applications.
Select from industry standard video and audio codecs including H.264, MPEG-4, MJPEG, MP3, and AAC. Use the default settings, or enter key encoding parameters to tune codec operation to your application.
Video frame rate, encoding bit rate, and key frame interval are among several parameters available to tailor the encoding to your specific requirements. H.264 encoding supports Baseline, Main, and High profiles. Whether you are recording highly dynamic full motion video or slowly changing instrumentation displays Epiphan Broadcasters enable you to direct the encoder to achieve optimal video quality while satisfying bitrate and file size constraints of your specific application and environment.
Epiphan Broadcasters are equally adept at capturing computer displays and live camera signals. Convenient pick lists of standard resolutions in 4:3, 16:9, and 16:10 ratios make configuration and switching between various video input sources quick and easy. Custom resolutions are also supported.
Audio configuration enables control over sample rates, bit rates and compression/encoding including PCM, MP3 and AAC.
Control
A web-based control interface is provided to enable local or remote configuration and operation of the Broadcaster. Once configured recording may be stopped and started using a mouse or our Big Red Button. Integration with other systems is available via our HTTP and RS-232 API.
Connect your computer directly to the broadcaster to enable local operation or place the broadcaster on a network to enable remote log in. Intuitive navigation of the control interface provides simple setup for capture, encoding, recording and streaming. Separate admin and viewer accounts and configurable passwords are provided.
Our Red Button provides simple start/stop control for streaming and visual confirmation whether streaming is in progress.
Recording and Recorded File Management
Recording
Record to internal solid state memory in either .AVI or .MOV format. Transfer to an external USB storage device by simply inserting it, access files via the web-based control interface, or configure for automatic file transfer. Recorded files may be viewed with media players and web browsers. |
