Easy set up and initialization
Setting up the SmartStorTM DS4600 is quite easy. Install the hard disks into the supplied drive carrier rails, insert the disks into the enclosure and connect the SmartStorTM DS4600 to your Mac, PC, Server, or Laptop. You don’t need to worry about device driver installations or other complex configurations.
One Touch Configuration
Insert your hard drives in the DS4600, press and hold the One Touch Configuration button on the front of the DS4600 for 3 seconds to automatically create an array. Then format the array using Disk Utility under Mac OS X or Disk Management under Windows and you are finished with setup, ready to store data.
Compatible with Time Machine
Connect SmartStorTM DS4600 to your Mac for use with Apple’s Time machine to backup your critical system files, applications, data files, music, pictures, videos and more.
Ultra Quiet and Green
SmartStorTM DS4600 complies with the RoHS standard, which means the SmartStorTM DS4600 is eco-friendly always keeping the environment in mind. The Standby feature of the SmartStorTM DS4600 allows hard drives to spin-down reducing power consumption during periods of inactivity. Thanks to the new enclosure design, system noise generated by the fan is no longer a concern.
